What is sludge dewatering?

The dewatering of sewage sludge consists of a gravity or mechanical process to eliminate the quantity of water contained in the sludge in order to reduce its volume, minimize handling and storage operations and thereby limit the costs of evacuation and destruction. The more a water treatment sludge is dewatered, the lower its humidity level and a high percentage of dry matter. We will then speak of high dryness for a dewatered sludge and low dryness for a wet sludge.
