Seawater reverse osmosis

Seawater reverse osmosis

Range of reverse osmosis systems specifically designed for the transformation of seawater into drinking water and process water

Why reverse osmosis?

Reverse osmosis is a world-renowned process that has been under continuous development for many decades. This technology, which combines filter membranes with high-pressure water, is commonly used to transform seawater into fresh water, removing salts and other compounds from water molecules.

Compared to other technologies for seawater desalination, reverse osmosis has several advantages:

  • Provides access to fresh water
  • Improves and stabilizes water quality
  • Flexibility of operation
  • Ease of use
  • Low energy consumption
  • Environmental solution
  • Low cost

Niskae seawater reverse osmosis systems

Niskae offers a range of reverse osmosis units for seawater, fully skid-mounted and offering a wide range of flow rates and capacities.

  • SRO-NWE range, with an optimized and extremely compact design for flow rates from 5m3 to 50 m3 per day
  • SRO-NWC range ensuring osmosis water production flow rates from 60 to 80m3 per day
  • SRO-NWS range which has a compact design for a large production capacity of 100 to 150m3 per day
  • Custom-sized for large capacities of drinking water and washing water

The design of Niskae reverse osmosis units is distinguished by,

  • A compact design
  • High-end materials
  • Easy maintenance
  • High-pressure pumps specially designed for seawater
  • Design to reduce operating costs
  • Quality and robust design for the offshore industry and marine environments

Turnkey solution for reverse osmosis

To ensure sufficient seawater quality at the inlet of the osmosis membranes, pre-filtration of seawater is often required. Depending on the conditions of the site concerned, this pre-filtration of water can be ensured by ultrafiltration, or by mechanical filtration, but also by filtration on media or through a high-capacity filtration cartridge.

Furthermore, minerals are added to the osmosis water produced for its remineralization before its storage in a tank for this purpose. The integration of a UV lamp is essential to avoid any phenomenon of bacterial development through the distribution network concerned.

Niskae will determine for each application, the most suitable pre-treatment or post-treatment solution.

Applications of reverse osmosis

Niskae seawater reverse osmosis systems can be used in many applications and when seawater is available:

  • Production of drinking water for boats at sea
  • Cleaning operations for ships and boats
  • Water requirements of offshore platforms
  • Amoebic gill disease and other parasites in aquaculture
  • Arid environment life base
