Waste water treatment units

Washing water for screen printing machines

Our Customer has become the European leader in textile marking thanks to its know-how and the multiplicity of marking techniques used. This screen-printing activity involves regular cleaning of their textile printing machines. The wastewater resulting from these washes is mainly made up of ink residues. The company called on our services to find a way of filtering this wastewater for reuse as washing water, in line with their commitment to eco-responsibility.

Ink residues to be extracted with a specific mono-reagent

The objective of NISKAE’s engineers was to develop a physico-chemical process, based on the principle of coagulation and flocculation, capable of extracting waste from this wastewater in the form of dewaterable sludge. This pulverulent treatment, specifically adapted to the properties of our customer’s water, is designed to enable the customer to reuse its cleaning water. Every day, over 4,500L of wastewater are generated by the customer’s washing operations. Its workshop operates at a rate of 2 shifts, i.e. 16 hours a day, 5 days a week. At present, process water is stored before being recovered for disposal by an external service provider, generating considerable disposal costs.

A tailor-made solution for compliant water recycling

In order to ensure better management of its process water, the client company wanted to benefit from a tailor-made solution to recycle its water. Our customer provided the NISKAE laboratory with samples of the wastewater generated by washing textile printing machines. Following an in-depth analysis, our laboratory experts were able to develop a solution tailored to our Customer’s needs. The series of tests carried out enabled the Zinc concentration to be lowered from 0.93 mg/L to less than 0.01 mg/L. They were also able to reduce the COD concentration by over 40 mg/L, from 115,800 mg/L to 76,600 mg/L. The sludge generated by the treatment process is non-sticky and easily dewatered, producing a clean, clear, translucent filtrate. Throughout the process, NISKAE ensures that the pH value is maintained to optimize the coagulation and flocculation reaction. What’s more, from a very dark, opaque green solution, the engineers at our NISKAE laboratories have achieved a clear, translucent, colorless water with sludge accumulated in the bottom of the beaker that is easily filtered.

A profitable, environmentally friendly investment

Our efficient and cost-effective wastewater treatment solution has enabled our customer to opt for better management of its washing water. The customer now has the right equipment and solution to recycle its process water in full compliance with its objectives of strengthening its sustainable development policy.
