Waste water treatment units

NISKAE installs a SW500 station for the production of animal feed supplements

Our Quebec-based customer is dedicated to scientific innovation on a global scale, with the aim of improving animal nutrition while minimizing environmental impact. With a wide variety of feed additives specially designed to optimize animal performance, our Customer has also complied with four of the food industry’s highest quality standards systems, devoting particular care to animal welfare. This type of activity not only requires the washing of production tanks, but above all the proper disposal of contaminated effluent.

Discharge treated water or recycle it; all while saving money

The production of animal feed supplements generates a daily volume of wastewater of around 4m3 for cleaning production tanks. This wastewater mainly contains soybean meal and heavy metals, and is discharged directly into the sewage system, but should be stored before being removed for disposal by an external service provider. We estimate that disposal and reprocessing costs would then amount to $150 per m3. In order to discharge process water directly into the sewer, while complying with current standards, or to recycle the water back into their cleaning process, our customer would like to install a NISKAE wastewater treatment plant and thus guarantee the right environmental action.

A solution tailored to our customer’s needs

Our customer sent us two samples of their wastewater for analysis by our NISKAE laboratory experts. A low dosage of 3.5 g/L of the flocculant-coagulant reagent developed specifically for our Customer was enough to turn the solutions from brown and white in color before treatment, to translucent and colorless. This formulation also lowered the high concentration of Iron (23.16 mg/L) and Zinc (11.615 mg/L) in sample A, to 0.01 mg/L and 0.02 mg/L respectively, in addition to regularizing the original acid pH of 4.11 to a neutral pH. Also for sample B, the very high initial concentration of Zinc (96.87 mg/L) was reduced to 0.11 mg/L after treatment, in addition to regulating the acid pH from 3.22 to 7.84. What’s more, the sludge retained by the filter box is non-sticky and easily dewatered, enabling it to be disposed of as waste.

NISKAE provides its customers with a SW500 pilot unit

In order to treat their wash water resulting from a production tank cleaning process, our Customer called on NISKAE’s expertise to provide the necessary support throughout the process of acquiring an industrial water treatment plant.
Given our customer’s needs, NISKAE proposed a SW500 treatment plant that would enable the company to carry out the water treatment process in complete autonomy, from storage to discharge, while complying with current regulations. The proposed plant is automatic, can handle treatment batches of 500L, and is equipped with all the safety features required for safe industrial operation.
It comprises :

  • A 2000L storage tank, equipped with a stirring system and a pneumatic pump.
  • A pneumatic pumping station to transfer water from your pit to the proposed storage tank.
  • As an optional extra, a 7000L storage tank is available in place of the basic 2000L tank. This tank is equipped with a water recirculation and aeration system.

Choose NISKAE as your industrial water treatment solution

Thanks to NISKAE, our Customer has been able to benefit from real expertise in industrial water treatment, with a tailor-made reagent and complete equipment adapted to its needs. The company is now able to discharge its wash water in full compliance, or to recycle it, generating significant annual savings of 62% and even greater savings of almost $650,000 over 5 years, enabling it to innovate even further in the animal nutrition sector.
