Waste water treatment units

A SW100 station to treat wash water for a manufacturer of wooden doors

With over 60 years of know-how, our Quebec-based customer designs and manufactures interior doors for distributors and building contractors. Active in several industrial and construction sectors, our Customer also offers products tailored to each specification. With plans for even greater growth and development, the customer wanted to find a sustainable, responsible and economical solution for discharging the wastewater generated by cleaning the gluing machines used to produce wood doors.

Managing wastewater to save on disposal costs

The manufacture of wooden doors involves regular, daily cleaning of the gluing machines, generating around 200L of waste water per day, mainly in the form of white glue residues. These pollutants force our customer to call on an external service provider to evacuate the stored water, at a cost of CAD 600 per m3. In the absence of a treatment plant, the customer cannot discharge its wash water, as it does not comply with current standards.

A solution tailored to our customer’s needs

In order to propose the most suitable formulation to our customer, NISKAE’s laboratory experts analyzed several wastewater samples and were able to find the most appropriate flocculant-coagulant reagent for our customer’s use.

With a minimum dosage of just 2 g/L of the reagent proposed for the treatment of their glue washing water, the initial solution changed from a white color to a clear, translucent filtrate, with sludge that was non-sticky, well dehydratable, easy to evacuate and representing only 20% of the total volume of water to be treated. The addition of the reagent lowered the iron concentration to 0.04 mg/L, compared with the initial concentration of 0.85 mg/L, and the pH value remained stable from start to finish.

As a result, the formulation we developed enabled our customer to rapidly and effectively treat its washing water, enabling it to be discharged in full compliance with regulations.

NISKAE offers its customers a SW100 unit

In order to treat the wastewater generated by the cleaning of its gluing machines, our Customer called on NISKAE’s expertise to provide the necessary support throughout the process of acquiring an industrial water treatment plant.
Given our customer’s needs, NISKAE proposed a SW100 treatment plant that would enable the company to carry out the water treatment process in complete autonomy, from storage to discharge, while complying with current regulations. The proposed plant is semi-automatic, providing treatment batches of 100L, and equipped with all the safety features required for safe industrial operation.

It comprises :

  • A 200L collection tank equipped with a lift pump for transferring water to the plant, and a range of high and low level controls.
  • FILTBAG 50 filter basket
  • A wash station measuring 1500*900*(h)1200mm, entirely made of polypropylene plastic, including a removable 500L collection tank and a submerged wastewater pump for transferring water to the station.
  • A high-level float warns you of any overflow. A low-level float secures pump operation.

A NISKAE water treatment plant to ensure savings and better management of wash water for its customers.

Thanks to the complete solution developed, including an adapted and specific reagent and a treatment station, NISKAE gives its customer all the cards in hand to discharge its wash water autonomously and in full compliance. The company will see significant annual savings of 78%, and savings of around $80,000 over 5 years, which represents a not inconsiderable sum.
