Waste water treatment units

Installation of a SW100 station to treat wastewater from an ink printing process

Our Customer is a Canadian company, located in Quebec, specializing in the manufacture of customized cardboard and pallet packaging, foam boards and foam end caps. Inspired by the latest innovations, the company is expanding in North America with boxes tailored to the needs of each of its customers. For the time being, this packaging production involves an ink printing process that requires regular, daily cleaning of the equipment, which is why our customer turned to us for a solution enabling it to discharge its treated water in a compliant manner.

Water storage, disposal and reprocessing costs too high for our customer

Regular cleaning of ink-jet printing machines involves the discharge of around 200L of wastewater per day, or almost 1000L per week, due to the ink residues left behind after cleaning the equipment. At present, the client company has to call on an external service provider to dispose of its stored wastewater, at a cost of CAD 600 per m3. Unable to discharge its process water due to non-compliance with current regulations, our customer would like to install a NISKAE wastewater treatment plant, to ensure that its washing water is treated and discharged into the sewer system while complying with environmental standards.

A tailor-made solution based on sample analysis

In order to offer our customer the most suitable product, he sent us a sample of his wastewater for analysis by our NISAKE laboratory experts.
A low dosage of just 1.5 g/L of the flocculant-coagulant reagent developed by our laboratory experts specifically for our Customer was enough to turn the solution from black in color before treatment, to a translucent, colorless solution with non-sticky, easily dewatered sludge. This reagent reduces the concentration of Zinc to 0.02 mg/L, compared with 0.13 mg/L initially. The volume of sludge to be evacuated is low, 15% of the initial volume of water to be treated, and the pH remains stable even after the addition of the flocculation complex. This solution ensures that our customer’s wastewater is discharged in compliance with current standards.

NISKAE sets up a SW100 station to meet its customer’s needs

In order to treat their wash water resulting from an ink printing process, our Customer called on NISKAE’s expertise to provide the necessary support throughout the process of acquiring an industrial water treatment plant.
Given our customer’s needs, NISKAE proposed a SW100 treatment plant that would enable the company to carry out the water treatment process in complete autonomy, from storage to discharge, while complying with current regulations. The proposed plant is semi-automatic, providing treatment batches of 100L, and equipped with all the safety features required for safe industrial operation.
It comprises :

  • A 200L collection tank equipped with a lift pump for transferring water to the plant, and a range of high and low level controls.
  • FILTBAG 50 filter basket

The NISKAE industrial water treatment solution for guaranteed savings

Our customer was able to benefit from NISKAE’s expertise in industrial water treatment, with a tailor-made reagent and complete equipment adapted to its needs. The company is now able to discharge its wash water in full compliance, generating significant annual savings of 78% and savings of almost $90,000 over 5 years, enabling it to further develop its custom packaging business.
