Waste water treatment units

A SW100 station is acquired by an office waste recycling specialist to treat its washing water

In France, a company specializing in the sorting and recycling of office waste collects coffee machine cups. As part of its activity, it operates a process for grinding and washing plastics. This process generates nearly 250 liters of wastewater daily, mainly composed of plastic residues and coffee grounds.

A responsible company decides to trust NISKAE for the treatment of their wastewater

In the absence of a wastewater treatment plant, our client stored the wash water from the grinding of coffee cups, which was then removed for disposal by an external service provider. In addition to the risk represented by the storage conditions on site, the latter imposed significant disposal and reprocessing costs. Our client therefore wanted to install a micro water treatment plant so that the wash water could be treated and discharged into the sewer in accordance with current regulations.

Concerned about its ecological impact and the risks of wastewater discharges into the environment, our Client decided to trust the NISKAE team, experts in industrial wastewater treatment and recycling, for a solution adapted to an industrial use. For this project, the objective is to treat the washing water coming from the plastic grinder and to discharge it into the sewer in full compliance.

Several water samples are tested to establish the best formulation for the type of effluent

After taking samples of washing water, NISKAE experts carried out numerous laboratory tests in order to develop a customized coagulant-flocculant. The analyses and the flocculation tests in the laboratory allowed the design of a formulation perfectly adapted to the needs of our Customer. The mono-reactive flocculant is used at a minimum dosage of 1.2 g/L with a reaction time of only a few minutes. Our tailor-made coagulant-flocculant was able to reduce most of the heavy metal concentrations to less than 0.01 mg/L, without significantly affecting the pH value. Thus, the initial iron concentration was reduced from 1.65 mg/L to a value below 0.01 mg/L. The resulting clear water is completely colorless and translucent and suitable for discharge.

A SW100 water treatment microstation meeting the needs of our Customer has been set up

Following the different stages of analysis and tests, and considering the volume of effluent and the type of effluent generated by the washing processes of our Client, NISKAE proposes the installation of a water treatment microstation for its washing water. The chosen unit is the SW100 model with semi-automatic operation. This station will allow to treat between 300 to 400 L per workstation.

The proposed installation is composed as follows:

  • 1 all stainless steel submersible pump ensures the lifting of wastewater from the grinder’s recovery pit to the water treatment plant ;
  • 1 water treatment reactor SW100 with a capacity of 100 L allows the coagulation and flocculation of wastewater in a single step and in only a few minutes ;
  • 1 filter basket ensures the collection and dewatering of the sludge from the flocculation treatment.

An investment in line with the company’s values

For this company specialized in sustainable waste management, the wastewater treatment proposed by NISKAE is a natural fit with its values. Thanks to the SW100 microstation and the coagulant-flocculant designed by NISKAE, our Client benefits not only from a solution that facilitates its logistics and optimizes its processes, but also from being responsible and reinforcing its credibility and brand image.
